CINEMATOGRAPHY COURSE OUTLINE – Duration: One Month

Lesson One: Introduction to storytelling and directing — the director's role in script development, pre-production and post-production; storytelling; film genres; global cinema.
Lesson Two: Introduction to cinematography and the camera — the cinematographer's work; camera types; depth of field; camera operation; hands-on settings; exposure, f-stop, shutter, ISO.
Lesson Three: Camera and shooting dynamics — camera movement; Steadicam and long shots; panning and tilting; dolly; handheld exercises.
Lesson Four: Lighting — lighting for emotional impact; terminology and concepts; colour temperature; types of lighting units.
